Objectives
Data update as of 31/12/2023
To create a research environment of excellence that can be transferred to clinical practice
The general aim of the IIS-FJD, UAM is to promote and encourage research, scientific and technological knowledge, teaching and training in the hospital environment, favouring the establishment of synergies and the development of integrated research capable of bringing together a large number of excellent researchers in the biomedical field, and overcoming the traditional barriers that come with the assignment to different administrative and managerial areas.
The initiative to create an IIS with modern approaches and its own legal standing represents a unique opportunity favoured by the high level of interdisciplinarity, which enhances its translational component. On the other hand, the incorporation of emerging researchers ensures the long-term future of the Institution.
In short, the objectives of the IIS-FJD, UAM are as follows:
- Promote quality biomedical research.
- Manage biomedical research scientifically, administratively and financially.
- Obtain grants and financial aid for research projects, human resources and infrastructure.
- Enter into collaboration agreements with universities, public or private institutions and companies.
- Foster state and international projection.
- Disseminate science and transfer results. Project research to society.
- Promote the professional training of all personnel: researchers, clinicians and research support staff.
Mission, Vision and Values
The IIS-FJD is a functional structure of multidisciplinary and translational biomedical research, oriented towards basic, clinical, epidemiological and health services research.
It is made up of the clinical and basic research groups of the HUFJD and the associated University Hospitals, Infanta Elena (Valdemoro), Rey Juan Carlos (Móstoles), and General Hospital of Villalba, as well as by UAM teaching and research staff, and CIEMAT associated research staff.
MISSION
To develop an environment of scientific management and translational research, aimed at solving health problems in the national health system and improving the quality of life of citizens, with proven quality and excellence, making it one of the benchmarks at a national and international level.
To provide the knowledge acquired for the adequate training of undergraduate, postgraduate and specialized biosanitary professionals, in coordination with the University and with leading educational organisations.
VISION
To be recognised as a leading center and an organisation of excellence by the different stakeholders (researchers, teaching staff, patients, clients, professionals and the social environment), and a scientific leader in the quality of its services, the efficient use of its resources, and the development of advanced management systems, and with organisational flexibility.
