The Fundación Jiménez Díaz Health Research Institute (IIS-FJD, UAM) is an entity with a long history of commitment to research and teaching, in addition to its clinical and healthcare activities.

Its objective is to foster, promote and encourage research excellence, scientific and technological knowledge, and teaching and training at the Hospital, and to facilitate the most efficient possible transfer of advances in research and innovation to healthcare practice.

The IIS-FJD, UAM has a group of people composed of senior researchers and trainees, research support staff, and management and administrative staff from each of its participating centers (FJD and the Autonomous University of Madrid [UAM]) and researchers, both from the Infanta Elena University Hospital (HUIE) and Rey Juan Carlos University Hospital (HURJC), and from the General University Hospital of Villalba (HUGV), accredited by the ISCIII in 2013 and 2016 respectively. In addition, three collaborating research groups, two from CIEMAT and one from the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC), also belong to the IIS-FJD, UAM. This group constitutes a functional structure oriented towards basic biomedical, clinical, epidemiological and health services research.

The IIS-FJD carries out its activities in areas located within hospital grounds, in addition to having extramural groups, and its area of influence is framed within the regional health system of the Community of Madrid.

The long-standing and fruitful relationship with the Autonomous University of Madrid, embodied in the agreement for the formation of the IIS-FJD and developed in its first integration plan (2009), involves both teaching with the Faculty of Medicine and the School of Nursing, as well as ongoing collaboration with different research groups at the Autonomous University of Madrid, or UAM This link opens in a popup window.

The IIS-FJD teaching experience through the FJD University Hospital and the UAM has been carried out since 1970, and includes undergraduate, postgraduate and specialist training. The University School of Nursing of the Fundación Jiménez Díaz-UAM (EUE-FJD-UAM) is also an affiliated center of the Fundación Jiménez Díaz-UAM (EUE-FJD-UAM) UAM This link opens in a popup window.

The IIS-FJD maintains a close collaboration with the Conchita Rábago FoundationThis link opens in a popup window.
